Let's Explore All The Delicious Food!

Hey guys, Amy here~

I’m a foodie conversationalist. One who not only loves to eat food. But, one who easily engages in the discussion about how the food is prepared, the process, the story about how to transport time and space by one forkful at a time. With a seasoned and well-defined palette for anything that is good, I’ll try anything at least once. So, you will see that my adventures are about more than just taking pictures of food. Rather, it’s about savoring the moment when that morsel hit the taste buds, and then what happened…next.
A recent stop in Madrid, brought back to mind what happens when I eat red meat. It was very unpleasant, indeed. I stopped eating red meat a few years ago and haven’t really missed it. For some unknown and ill-thought out reason, I thought, “yeah, I’ll try a delicioso hambuguesa at a local tapas spot in the center of town. All I’ll say is this: It was an excruciatingly long night. So, I’m sticking to my chicken and legumes, and shellfish fare. Much safer territory for mi estomago!
If I had to choose a favorite all time food, I would say undoubtedly that Soul Food (Southern United States), and Latin American/Caribbean foods are my heritage, and loves. In my travels, I’ve tasted it all! I’ve even eaten alligator. No, it definitely did not taste like chicken! Travelling throughout Europe for the past 5 years, I think that I am totally in love with the foods that I’ve experienced in Morocco. Tagine all day for me…just couldn’t get enough.

While in Rome...Why Not Gelato!

To be fair, while staying in our own private riad, we had the most amazing cook, who cooked our meals daily, and they were beyond amazing. I really can no longer imagine now because of Rasheeda, orange juice that is not hand squeezed, one orange at a time. Oh, and the night she made us Fekka’s. Fekka’s are a famous twice-baked Moroccan cookie very much like biscotti. With a warm cup of mint tea, after a long day of mountain climbing these totally hit the spot!

We were not too keen on exploring the street food, in the market (Djem al Fna). Things are relatively cheap/inexpensive. But, open air markets where questionable flying creatures can be seen swirling, create an unappealing draw to me.

So, it is then, anything with butter, and tons of warm croissants in Paris, coupled with my beloved macarons, that I can devour without any form of control, hot crispy fish and chips in London, and gelato and pasta of any kind in both Florence and Rome. Sit for a cup of tea in either Istanbul or Morocco, and your life will be transformed as you sip slowly out of a little gold-rimmed glass cup. Trust me, you’ll have more than one!
